Tony Imeson, Executive Officer of Vegetable Growers Association of Victoria has decided to call it a day. To use an old expression “The time has come the Walrus said to talk of other things”. After 12 years in the role of Part-Time Executive Officer, Tony will finalise his duties at the end of May and tour Europe and UK during June and July. Tony said “It had been most gratifying to serve with four VGA Presidents over the past 12 years.” “Thank you to Peter Cochrane, Alec Berias, Luis Gazzola and David Wallace for sharing advice, ideas and recommendations to ensure that VGA Vic remains a leader in the Vegetable Industry,” said Tony. Tony has been involved in the fruit and vegetable Industry for 39 years, initially with a packaging supplier then with the Vic Market Wholesalers and Vegetable Grower Associations. Tony has developed many long term friendships with colleagues around Australia. VGA President David Wallace said, “On behalf of the Executive Committee and myself as Chairperson, 12 years have gone too quickly, but what Tony has done for VGA over those years has progressed and maintained an Association with an ongoing structure that will help ensure a strong future for Victorian Vegetable Growers. ” Thanks again Tony!
Helena Whitman will take on Tony’s responsibilities at VGA Vic from 1 June and says that “she has big boots to fill.” “I am sure that all vegetable growers would like to wish Tony and Maureen all the best in his retirement and a safe trip overseas,” said Helena.
