Minister for Agriculture and Food Security Peter Walsh has officially opened the new Horticulture Centre of Excellence at Tatura, an industry hub that will help growers to become more productive and access new export markets. “The Launch of the Victorian Government’s new Horticulture Centre of Excellence in Tatura is a significant milestone” said Minister Peter Walsh at the launch, “and demonstrates the Government’s commitment to supporting the industry.” The Centre is a vibrant centre located in the heart of the Goulburn Valley that connects, innovates and promotes a horticulture sector that is productive, profitable and globally competitive. The Centres impressive scientific facilities include pear and stone fruit field laboratories, state of the art soil laboratories, glasshouses and controlled environment rooms, insect rearing facilities and a new sensor-equipped grading and coolstore facility to measure fruit maturity, quality and composition.
