VGA Vic congratulates Silvio Favero on receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2014 AUSVEG National Awards for Excellence Dinner in Cairns. The Award was well deserved and recognises Silvio’s past and present involvement in the Vegetable Industry. Silvio is a Past President and Life-time Member of the Vegetable Growers Association of Victoria. He also served for many years as AUSVEG Board Member and Chairman.
AUSVEG CEO Richard Mulcahy said that Mr Favero deserved to be recognised for his incredible contribution to the Australian vegetable industry. “Silvio is an exemplary grower who has worked tirelessly on industry issues above and beyond those affecting his own business. He consistently engages with the industry and strives for excellence in his every endeavor. For this, he is entirely deserving of this Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Mr Mulcahy.
Silvio recalled his time as Chairman, travelling with AusVeg EO, the late Brian Newman, as they met with grower groups around Australia to establish the Vegetable R&D levy in 1996. Silvio is pleased to see that AusVeg has continued to grow over the past 20 years, to become the influential peak body representing Australian Vegetable Growers, it is today.
