Growers are encouraged to apply for one of the Nuffield Australia Farming Scholarships available for 2016. You can apply if you are between 28 and 40 and engaged in farming as an owner or active member of a farming business and intend to remain involved in primary production in Australia. The scholarship provides financial assistance to cover costs associated with the pre-tour briefing, overseas study and living expenses.
The 2014 Nuffield Scholarship was awarded to Emma Germano, Business Development and Operations Manager for Germano Produce at Mirboo North. The scholarship enabled Emma to research Government export programs and market opportunities open to vegetable growers in Europe, Israel and China. Emma is now a member of the VGA executive and is putting her knowledge and experience gained from her scholarship back into the family business as well as promoting the Victorian vegetable industry.
