Butler Market Gardens new

Butler Market Gardens (BMG) are a 6th generation family owned and operated business based at Heatherton, 25km SE of Melbourne.

We grow a wide range of fresh, high-quality vegetables and have done so for over 80 years including: Spring Onions, Rhubarb, Beetroot, Radish, Parsley, Turnips, Fancy Lettuce and Asian Veg lines.

Our central position to the Melbourne wholesale markets and major retail distribution networks allows the freshest product to be delivered locally or interstate.

Butler Market Gardens is highly regarded for its quality vegetables, lettuce and herbs. This has only been possible through continued innovation and development of its products, including constant trialling of new vegetable varieties.

Butler Market Gardens in recent years has developed a new washing system for its whole head lettuce and Asian vegetables that has reduced potable drinking water consumption by nearly 95%. Butler Market Gardens is committed to sustainability and environmental practices within its business.

Butler Market Gardens is fully accredited with HACCP quality systems. It is also a quality approved supplier for supermarkets nationally.

Rick Butler is an active supporter of R&D initiatives and represents Victoria on the National R&D Production Advisory Group.

In 2009, Rick was presented with a Young Leadership Award from Horticulture Australia.
